Mythology How to Draw Printables Greek Mythology Drawings Easy Printable
This month for the Greek Myth theme for the Popping Book Nook we went about things very differently. We have been doing crafts and activities for the books and this time we did a field trip after reading our book: A Child's Introduction to Greek Mythology: The Stories of the Gods, Goddesses, Heroes, Monsters, and Other Mythical Creatures (Child's Introduction Series). This book we took a little while to read over. We loved it has great stories and full of information that kids find easy to use.
We went to the Museum of Fine Arts to see what art work we could find there that matched up with some of the Greek Gods that we read about. We saw various things and loved the trip. Here are some of our favorite things we saw:
#1 – This is a statue of Athena. She was one figure we saw a lot of that museum.
#2 – This is art work featuring Dionysus the Greek god of wine and fertility. This had great details and a great carving to see.
#3 – The girls liked the statue of the boy riding the horse and his dog.
#4 – The pottery was something all my girls liked. They noted that most of the pottery was black and gold or bronze color.
While at the museum we ran into an activity they were having that day for kids. They explained that medallions were made to show people they cared about or honored. The girls were given circles of metal that was gold on one side and silver on the other side. (I have since learned it is this product or similar to it: ArtEmboss Pure Metal Sheet) They drew on one side and it became 3D on the other. After they were finished they wore them around the museum and played with them a lot!
Here is a look at front and back of one of them.
